On March 18, 2014, the Senate Chamber voted by a majority in favor of a law which establishes criminal liability of an employer that does not adopt means of safety and security and puts into grave, real danger the life, health and integrity of workers.
While the primary purpose of the law is to protect the lives, health and physical integrity of workers, the provisions of the same establish a new type of criminal conduct, effectuate changes to Act No. 16.074 (The Work Accident and Professional Illness Act), and alters Code of Penal Process.
