ICIR - New bill to repeal tax

Today the Government sent to the Parliament a bill in order to repeal Act No. 18.876 which created the Tax against Concentration of Rural Lands (ICIR). This tax was declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ).

According to the bill provisions, the amounts paid pursuant the tax will be returned to taxpayers through credit certificates which are useful to cancel tax obligations before the Tax Office (DGI). The regulatory decree will establish the mechanism of the devolution.
